During the early days of the “new normal,” when our routines shifted and home became everything, Nescafé wanted to reinvent how people experience their coffee, not just in taste but in story. They asked, "How could the packaging and brand identity speak to hope, connection, and innovation in uncertain times?" They challenged us to create more than just pretty visuals, to deliver a packaging identity that felt alive, digital, and meaningful.
Polo, the iconic circular mint which had a hole in it, had to regain its cool in the Indian market while finding its voice once again through a very contemporary, digital-first lens.
Polo was well known across the globe and yet the social presence for Polo in India was almost non-existent.
The brand battled to differentiate itself in a packed chocolate and confectionery market.
To bring back Polo’s “cool” image among younger, digital consumers.
The challenge was to capture the spirit of Polo’s playful personality in a new way.
For those who don’t know the brand, the challenge was refreshing a classic mint to make it relevant for a new generation.
The objective was to reintroduce Polo to a new generation, bringing back its nostalgic charm through a lens of Gen-Z humor and contemporary digital culture. The idea was to craft a “cool revival," a playful nod to the past, refreshed for today’s audience.
We positioned Polo as more than just a mint; it became a fun, everyday mood booster, a little circle of joy that fits seamlessly into modern social expression and digital trends.
A unified digital presence was established to communicate a brand voice that’s fun, fresh, and quirky. Every post, interaction, and visual carried a distinctive tone, lighthearted, witty, and self-aware.
We leveraged micro-content formats, short, snappy, and shareable, to drive engagement and brand recall. Playful visuals and bite-sized humor helped Polo reclaim its cultural relevance among younger audiences.
The campaign successfully reframed Polo as a nostalgic yet modern icon, blending retro vibes with Gen-Z playfulness—a mint that’s not just refreshing, but refreshingly fun.
Produced high-impact stop-motion, 3D, and AR for social media.
Created designs celebrating Polo’s iconic circular shape and social copy with a witty tone of voice.
Brought humor and simplicity into every digital touchpoint.
The execution re-established Polo as a timeless yet trendy brand: small, simple, and effortlessly cool.
The “Awesome Date” packaging didn’t just look impressive; it created conversation:
It broke through the clutter of everyday coffee packs and became a social media moment
People chose Nescafé not only for the coffee inside, but for the experience it promised
Online sales and engagement metrics showed uplift driven by curiosity and emotional resonance
The packaging itself became part of the campaign, reinforcing Nescafé’s image as a brand that innovates while staying human
In short: this wasn’t just packaging. It was a connection.
This case shows how powerful packaging design services can be when combined with storytelling and tech:
Innovative packaging design brings the physical and digital worlds together.
Packaging designers can be engineers, technologists, and storytellers combined.
Brand packaging design reinforces brand values, rather than merely aesthetics.
Package Label Design: Brand elements, typography, and image all complemented each other, were readable, expressive, and emotionally stimulating.
