At PRAKRIA, we don’t simply make visuals—we create connections of people to the thoughts through experiences.

As December came, Polo wanted to take it a level beyond the conventional campaigns. No, sir, not static posters or ads; they sought an experience—a willing, shareable, magical moment. The very idea was to develop a Christmas AR filter with which users may interact, record, and share. The challenge: to keep it Christmassy, branded, polished, and fun, yet fast and intuitive across mobile devices. We needed an AR experience that would withstand delight without friction—joyful interaction, period.
Polo wanted to do more than just static festive campaigns; it wanted to create an interactive, shareable AR experience that really spread the holiday joy with the same freshness and fun the brand is known for.
The task was to design an AR experience that blended holiday spirit with brand personality, without feeling gimmicky or overproduced.
It had to be a technically polished but lightweight filter, working flawlessly on a wide variety of mobile phones and social platforms.
It had to be intuitive and delightful, instantly recognizable as Polo, yet universally enjoyable to users celebrating the season.
Every visual and animation element needed to hit the right balance of: Christmassy, branded, fun while retaining real-time performance.
The deeper challenge was making sure the filter didn't just entertain but invited participation, creating and sharing one's own festive moments with Polo at the center.
The task, in short, was to change a humble social filter into a magical branded experience—one that spread Polo's festive cheer through interaction, not advertising.
We created a filter where users see themselves surrounded with Polo Christmas elements (e.g., sparkly candy canes, snow falling, animated lights, and Polo mints decorated with holiday elements in between), all with face detection and surrounding anchors triggering it.
Created the core AR experience: We used AR development techniques, so filters felt organic on the user’s face and around.
Added 2D/3D animation elements: animations of snow, sparkly lines, and holiday icons dancing around the user’s head.
Added motion and visual effects: This animated things up—snow drift, glowing pulse, light trails—to help create a polished feeling of animation.
Created an implementation: assured the filter experience was performant across mobile devices, with little to no lag time and visual fidelity.
Since filters are “always on screen," each animation decision is light, festive, and non-intrusive—to provide delight, when possible, without interruption.
After the AR filter was developed, it was launched via social channels (Instagram, Snapchat) and branded channels. Users could:
Try it live and capture short videos of themselves in the Polo AR festive world.
Take still-image shots with the animated filter overlays.
Share directly to stories, messages, social media, etc.
We also created teaser animations, a promotional banner image, and AR previews to support Polo with the promotion of the filter across both its digital and physical channels.
The Polo Christmas AR Filter turned into an asset that was shared publicly—people were using it for celebratory content, holiday greetings, and social posts.
This helped brand engagement: users did not just see Polo messaging, but rather experienced it in their own context.
The animation and festive layer raised the bar with Polo’s seasonal campaign to be more than just a standard visual asset.
The overall performance and polish of the filter demonstrated our capabilities in augmented reality application development and AR + animation execution.
The AR filter represents more than a leap in holiday fun; it demonstrates how brands can today
Utilise augmented reality development to bring packaging or branding into the consumer spaces of users
Mix animated video creation with motion and AR to evoke an emotional connection
Realise that AR/VR app development and the essence of AR/VR development thinking can be applied to even a lightweight social experience
Think of filters and immersive technology not just as novelties, but as strategic extensions to the brand
As an animation / AR / VR studio, PRAKRIA sees every filter as a connection between a brand and a user, a magical moment, and a chance to put some delight into someone’s day.
